Fire safety

Not only can fire spread via cables, but in many conventional cables, the resulting smoke is toxic, so posing an extra threat to people and the environment.
Draka is at the forefront of implementing new technologies and standards that improve the fire-related safety of cable installations.

Safety in numbers

Halogen-free cables, for example, are more fire-resistant. Typically, they are used in situations in which large groups of people gather or pass through something (airports, tunnels, underground railways, department stores, hotels, hospitals, office complexes, etc.), or where it is vital that certain cables continue to function in the event of fire (e.g. in fire detection and sprinkler systems).

Tailored to local regulations

Draka has developed a range of products tailored to fire regulations in particular parts of the world, such as Lifeline for the American market and Firetuf for Europe.
