E & I | Greater China
Draka Energy & Infrastructure | Greater China division operates two entities,
Suzhou Draka Cable Co., Ltd and Draka Cables (Hong Kong) Limited, and is engaged
in the development, production, marketing and sales of cable and cable systems
in China, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.
Suzhou Draka Cable Co., Ltd
Suzhou Draka Cable Co., Ltd (SDC) was established in Suzhou, China, in April
1994 as a joint-venture company between Suzhou Cable Works and Draka Far East.
In July 1997, it became a Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise. In January 2006, SDC
began operating from an advanced new factory, where it manufactures a wide range
of cables for applications in the Energy, Building Construction, Shipbuilding
and Automotive industries.
Standards
SDC has been an ISO-certified company since 1994. Products manufactured by SDC
conform to the stringent requirements of various national and international
standards including GB, IEC, BS, AS, and JIS. SDC marine cables are also
certified by major classification organizations, such as ABS, LRS, CCS, BV,
RINA, GL, DNV and NK. SDC offers a range of standard wire and cables plus
specialty cables with low smoke and/or halogen-free, fire-resistant or fire
retardant capabilities. In addition, SDC designs and develops special cables to
customer-specific requirements.
Automotive & Aviation Business Unit
SDC includes an Automotive & Aviation Business Unit, one of eight automotive
cable manufacturing plants of the Draka Automotive & Aviation division. The
Automotive & Aviation Business Unit’s products are ISO/TS16949 certified and
conform to DIN, JASO, and PSA standards. The cables can be found in most of the
vehicles produced by Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW, Fiat, Ford, Peugeot and others.
The Automotive & Aviation Business Unit’s customers include the main wiring
harness makers, such as Cablelettra, Delphi, Draexlmaier, Fujikura, Lear, Leoni,
Volex, and others.
Rubber Business Unit
SDC also has a Rubber Business Unit and is one of the seven production sites of
the Drake Rubber Cable Division. SDC offers standard and harmonized rubber
cables and specialty rubber cables for low and medium-voltage applications for
local and export sales.
Draka Cables (Hong Kong) Ltd
Draka Cables (Hong Kong) Ltd (DCHK) was established in 1998 after Draka Holding
N.V. acquired Delta's cable division in the UK. DCHK is a trading company that
distributes primarily energy cables, data communication cables and elevator
products in Southern China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. DCHK also offers
Assembled Branch Cables for in-building power distribution applications.
DCHK has in excess of 60,000 sq. ft. of storage space with products stocked at
the MTL Warehouse at Kwai Chung Container Terminal, Hong Kong, where the sales
office is situated, and also in Yuen Long, where most of the heavy drums of
cable are stored.
The readily available stock and DCHK’s cable-cutting service ensure enhanced
service and support for urgent customer requirements, particularly for exact and
odd-lengths of cables for specific applications.
Draka products are widely used in the building and construction industries and
by public institutions, including the Housing Authority, MTR, KCRC and PCCW in
Hong Kong.
